Annual Meeting Elections

United Way of Greater New Bedford is pleased to announce the election of Christopher Fortier as Board Chair, following its Annual Meeting held in October. Fortier succeeds Dr. Shanna Howell, who will continue to serve on the Board as Immediate Past Chair.

The meeting also marked the election of officers, the renewal of terms for existing Board members, and the addition of a new Board member, Jill Simoes.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chris as our new Board Chair,” said Michelle N. Hantman, President & CEO of United Way of Greater New Bedford. “His leadership and unwavering commitment to our mission will help guide us into the future. Chris has deepened his engagement with United Way over the years, from a direct service volunteer with our Mobile Market to now taking on the chief volunteer position. He brings an ambitious vision to his role as Chair, and I look forward to our partnership” added Hantman.

Hantman also expressed excitement about welcoming Jill Simoes to the Board. “Jill’s extensive experience and dedication to our community will bring invaluable insights to our organization. Her leadership as Chair of our Women United Leadership Council has been instrumental in expanding that initiative.”
