UWGNB Kicks Off Fall Campaign With Rick Kidder as Chair

Campaign Cabinet

United Way of Greater New Bedford (UWGNB) has formed its annual campaign cabinet and kicked off its fall campaign to engage the business community and philanthropic individuals on its mission to ensure that every child and family in the region can thrive. Leading the committee’s efforts is Campaign Chair Rick Kidder, known for his leadership within the community since 2015 when he returned to his native New England as President/CEO of the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, now known as One SouthCoast Chamber. The committee will work with long-standing corporate partners and build new relationships with entities that wish to become more active in their community.

“United Way is in a unique position to address the pressing needs of Greater New Bedford,” observed Campaign Chair Kidder. “I didn’t hesitate to deepen my involvement in the organization given how it aligns with my commitment to the community’s wellbeing as well as my service-oriented career. I’m honored and inspired to head up this important initiative to further the organization’s efforts.”

The committee, under Kidder’s leadership, will ensure businesses can actively contribute to the community, meeting them where they are in giving back and tailoring programs that effectively engage their employees, in workplace giving campaigns, collection drives, volunteer activities, event sponsorship, and more.

Joining Kidder are business leaders from the area dedicated to the United Way mission. These committee participants will serve as outreach ambassadors and include Steve Connulty, Paul & Dixon; Doug Glassman, ServPro; Don Hartley, Ocean Point Investment Solutions; Luke Lehman, BankFive; Nicole Mello, Webster Bank; Matt Payette, BayCoast Bank and Kim Perry, Dignity Memorial.

“The United Way tradition of partnering with businesses and their employees has evolved over the years to meet new needs, challenges, and adapt to new fundraising realities,” commented Michelle N. Hantman, President & CEO of United Way Greater New Bedford. “Rick’s expertise in advocacy, civic affairs, and business leadership, coupled with the committee’s, will serve us well as they tailor philanthropic opportunities for companies and loyal donors. The financial gifts raised and their volunteerism will go a long way in helping us make this community a better place to live, for all who call it home.”
